It was found in a study that people who ate six key foods daily reduced their risk of heart disease by 76% and if these people stuck with this diet, men could increase their life expectancy by 6.5 years and women by 5 years. The right portion for these foods is:

½ teaspoon garlic

2 cups fresh fruit and vegetables

(Especially leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits)

100 gms dark chocolate

150 ml glass of wine (red is rich in anti-oxidants)

A handful of almonds (65 grams)

110 grams salmon, herring or another fish that contains Omega three fatty acids (2-4 times in a week)

 

Whole Grains for a healthy heart

We already know that whole grains provide essential fibre that aids digestion and is extremely necessary to maintain good health. Now new research has proved that it is good for the heart too. It is assumed that as fibre helps in reducing cholesterol it could benefit the heart also as fibre prevents obesity that could help avoid heart disease.

Stop Fagging and Lose weight

 If you have planned to quit smoking, you may find that you are eating lot of junk or other unhealthy food. Instead plan regular meal and maintain a record of when you decide to stray.

If you get the urge to snack substitute it with fruits.

Substitute high cal desserts with yoghurt or plain biscuits.

Take easy pre-emptive measures and switch to low-fat milk, artificial sweeteners and sugar free gum.
