Do you give up your seats for elderly or pregnant womans in MRT? I think this is will be a pretty nice topic to discuss here.
Everyday, whenever i take the train to Choa Chu Kang in the morning, i always don’t really want to sit down because of a few couple of reasons. First reason is because i don’t want to sleep. Second reason is that, whenever i seated down, i will probably choose a “priority seat” because i would close my eyes, lean my head over to the glass panel, close my eyes and sleep. There is a few incidents that happened to me in the MRT. One time, i was sleeping while sitting on the priority seat and i failed to notice that an old guy was standing next to me, trying his best to balance himself. Just when i was about to give up my seat for him, he reached his destination. I feel so bad inside. It’s like, i could have given him my seat if i was not asleep. I think i could have easily been into Stomp for the topic ” Healthy young guy failed to give up seat for elderly”
Have you ever also faced awkward, funny moments in mrt train before. Got one time, i gave my seat up for a lady who apparently, appears to be pregnant ( looks plump, but not, LOL). It’s kinda awkward during that point of time because that lady said, “I am not pregnant!” VERY LOUD AND CLEAR. She sounded very offended! I know it’s my bad. LOL but i never expect her reaction to be that “big”!
Also , i seen others who die die won’t give up their seats for needy personal. Some are even holding national service jobs like NSmen etc.
What do you think about it? Any feedbacks ? I believe that everyone of you have your own stories and encounters in the MRT train, so why not let’s share it and discuss them here?

taking the MRT is a hassle when you are young and you sit down , people tend to give you the looks .

@vveijie : correct, exactly, that’s why i rather stand than sit whenever i board train.

I’ll still sit if there’s a seat available. Fuck stompers, lol. I also won’t give others my seat UNLESS.. the person is a fragile old person or a pregnant lady.
Seriously, stomp and that Priority Seat thing has fucked people’s brains. Myself included because now I don’t sit there, in case an old person comes along and people give me the looks.
There was once where I was sitting on a normal seat where this man shoo-ed me off so that his mother could sit. Jeez, couldn’t he ask me more nicely?

We should have specific cabins for targeted groups of people like what they do in Japan. Maybe we should have category like senior citizens, male, female or mixed etc etc. Would solve a lot of problems huh?

@Penguin: That’s a pretty nice suggestion, didn’t know they do that in japan, maybe we should submit an suggestion to them.

Even if they have such cabin, let’s say the last cabin, I don’t think people, who didn’t even bothered about this sign, will actually ignore that. Especially when it’s very crowded.

smrt should impose a fine when those such young and healthy person misused the priority seats. i’ve always seen those china man often take up priority seats and never offer their seats to the elderly. i see this kind of people it makes me pissed. you people out there should enforce those brainless people who didn’t read the sign to realize how important those seats to the needy one.
