Due to the news of an impending union strike in the British Royal Mail Service, Microsoft has made Windows 7 available to some customers a few days early through its retailers. They have been asked to ship the consignment a few days early so that none of is customers have to wait for their experience of Windows 7. That is what I call prompt customer service!

Some Britishers just got lucky they received an early copy of Windows 7 days before its official release. They had pre-ordered the copy and Microsoft rewarded them for their loyalty. The British Royal Mail postal strike in this case proved to be good for these lucky few.

The news first appeared in CNet, when an elated reader reported that he had received his copy which he had ordered several months back. When he reached home he found his copy in mail.

He was confused as earlier he had received an e-mail from PC world stating that Windows 7 would leave their warehouse only after Oct 21’2009.

The reason for this early delivery was the impending strike by the British Royal Mail Service. As per reports Microsoft has allowed select UK retailers of Microsoft to send early copies of Windows 7 to loyal customers so that there Windows 7 experience is not delayed because the postman refused to deliver the mail.

So if you live in Britain and find a CD of Windows 7 from PC World, don’t forget your postman as his refusal to work got you your copy in advance.

Even Amazon.co.uk is dispatching its copies earlier than Oct 22 as even their mail is delivered through British Royal mail. The postman strike proved lucky for these!

As per a reader who commented on this news story anyone who has a TechNet or MSDN connection has been enjoying Windows 7 for a couple of months now. He stated that he had been doing so.

Another reader gave this update that if you insert the installation disk while you are running Windows Vista or Windows XP and begin the process of installation; it keeps the other operating systems Boot intact. You just have to be cautious of the bce files.

Another reader stated that as a user of e-alliance he had the copy for free for several months, wow! Lucky guys!

Another customer in Finland reported that not just in UK but his copy of Windows 7 in Finland was sent by Amazon UK on the 20th

As per other reports PC World and Currys have decided to distribute copies of Windows 7 early.

Another excited reader reported that he had already got his copy a month back and stated that it is smarter and faster, so here is testimonial for all those who are apprehensive about its performance.

Another reader stated that his copy had also arrived which was home premium version and professional version. He was enthusiastic about his copy and was lambasting any cynics who were ridiculing Microsoft commitment to release an early copy for the Britishers.

Another reader who got his copy stated that his copy was good and his initial impression was positive and had great driver support also.

So if you are waiting for reader reviews Windows 7 has all positive votes!
